AN EVENING TO HONOR INDIGENOUS PEOPLES AND LOCAL COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP
As a special contribution to COP21, the Equator Prize 2015 Award Ceremony will honor and celebrate 21 outstanding local peoples and indigenous community leadership initiatives. The high-level event is being hosted by the UN Development Programme (UNDP) and the Government of Norway. The evening will have a thematic focus on the protection, restoration and sustainable management of forests; protecting and securing rights to communal lands, territories and natural resources; community-based adaptation to climate change; and activism for environmental justice.
FEATURED SPEAKERS
Featured speakers include: Alec Baldwin (Actor and Activist), Helen Clark (Administrator, UNDP), Charlotte Petri Gornitzka (Director General, Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency), Naoko Ishii (CEO, Global Environment Facility), Kumi Naidoo (Executive Director, Greenpeace), Edward Norton* (Actor and UN Goodwill Ambassador for Biodiversity) (*video narration), Siti Nurbaya Bakar (Minister of Environment and Forestry, Government of Indonesia), Manuel Pulgar-Vidal (Minister of Environment, Government of Peru), Chief Raoni (Chief, Brazilian Indigenous group Kayapo), Mary Robinson (UN Special Envoy for Climate Change) and Tine Sundtoft (Minister of Climate and Environment, Government of Noway). There will be a special music performance by Amadou & Mariam.
RECEPTION AND AWARD CEREMONY
The reception will run from 6:30-7:30pm, while the award ceremony will run from 7:30-10:00pm. Drinks and passed food will be provided at the reception.
DIRECTIONS
If you are coming from the COP 21 venue Le Bourget, you have several options to get to the Théâtre Mogador:
By Metro (around 35 minutes)
--Take the shuttle take the shuttle from Le Bourget to Fort d’Aubervilliers
--Take Metro 7 line towards Villejuif/ / Mairie d'Ivry
--After 13 stops, get off at Chaussée d'Antin - La Fayette, then walk five minutes to Théâtre Mogador 2.
By RER train (around 40 minutes)
--Take the shuttle take the shuttle from Le Bourget to Le Bourget station of line B of the RER.
--Take RER Line B to Gare du Nord.
- Walk 4 minutes to Magenta station, and transfer line E of RER towards Haussmann - Saint-Lazare
- Get off from Haussmann - Saint-Lazare, then walk three minutes to the Théâtre Mogador.
If you are coming from other places to the Théâtre Mogador
By subway: Trinité d'Estienne d'Orves (line 12), Chaussée d'Antin Lafayette (line 9), Havre-Caumartin (line 3 & 9).
By RER train: the RER A to the Auber stop or the RER E to the Haussmann Saint-Lazare stop.
By car: you will have three parking options: at Galleries Lafayette (on Haussmann Boulevard); at Printemps (rue de Provence and rue de Charras); and Trinité d'Estienne d'Orves (10-12 rue Pigalle).
